Friends of Cuba arrived at the Cuban Embassy in Buenos Aires on Friday to support a mass mobilization that took place in Havana led by Army General Raúl Castro and President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
This action aims to condemn the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington for more than six decades and to demand Cuba’s exclusion from Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorist (SSOT) list.
As in other nations, members of solidarity organizations expressed their willingness to continue to support the people and government of Cuba.
In statements to Prensa Latina, the president of the Argentine-Cuban Friendship House of Buenos Aires, Rubén Zaccaro, highlighted the importance of this event and its international repercussions.
We wanted to join the clamor of the Cuban people who have suffered for more than 60 years the consequences of a brutal and genocidal blockade. Once again, we are present in front of the diplomatic representation of Cuba and we will continue to fight, not only for the blockade to be lifted, but also for the island to be removed from the list, he stated.
Washington’s actions are legal aberrations and flagrant violations of human rights and of respect for the self-determination of peoples. What the United States is doing is criminal interference in the internal destiny of a society that, despite everything, continues to resist, he added.
Cuban Ambassador Pedro Pablo Prada expressed gratitude for the expressions of support from Argentina and the world.
