In an event at the Cuban Embassy in this capital, which was attended by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Labor (PCT), Manuel Salazar, and members of his organization, Cubans demanded an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which does so much damage to development and families.
Manuel Salazar reiterated the PCT’s support for the struggle of the Cuban people against Washington’s hostile policy and for the defense of the achievements of the Revolution.
The communist leader said that the people and the Dominican Republic support the Caribbean island without ambiguities or conditions, and highlighted the historic relations that unite the two countries.
As children we began to admire the steadfastness of the Revolution; it was in our homes that we first heard the young revolutionary Fidel Castro, whom we have always admired, Salazar said.
He pointed out that in the Dominican Republic, conservative and right-wing parties have always defended Cuba’s right to self-determination.
