Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said China is one of the most determined nations in the fight against drugs, with comprehensive policies and an outstanding record in this regard.
“We are also one of the countries with the highest number of controlled substances and strictest regulations in the world,” he added.
Lin stressed that the anti-drug authorities rigorously enforce the law to prevent the detour of chemicals used in the manufacture of narcotics, whereby companies operate legally and in accordance with established regulations.
The spokesman emphasized that the root of the drug crisis in the United States lies within its own territory and that the solution also depends on domestic actions. “We urge certain U.S. policymakers to confront their country’s domestic problems by strengthening domestic oversight and reducing domestic demand, rather than looking for external culprits and shirking responsibility,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman’s statements follow reports of three bills introduced by U.S. lawmakers to “combat China’s role in the U.S. fentanyl crisis.”
