Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that China is one of the most determined nations in the fight against drugs, with comprehensive policies and an outstanding record in this issue. “We are also one of the countries with the largest number of controlled substances and the strictest regulations in the world,” he added.
Lin stressed that the authorities in charge of the fight against drugs rigorously apply the law to prevent the diversion of chemicals used in the manufacture of narcotics so that companies operate legally and following established regulations.
The spokesman emphasized that the root of the drug crisis in the United States is found within its territory and that the solution also depends on internal actions. He urged certain US politicians to address their country’s internal problems by strengthening domestic oversight and reducing domestic demand, rather than looking for external blame and evading responsibility”.
The spokesman’s remarks follow reports of three bills introduced by US lawmakers to address China’s role in the fentanyl crisis in the United States which includes a task force to curb smuggling and paving the way for sanctions against Chinese entities.
