After his second victory against Yunier Watson, from Holguin, the 63.5-kilogram champion made exclusive statements to Prensa Latina about the opportunity of this contest in view of international competitions.
“Thank God I feel good and in this second fight I was able to improve my physical capacity by fighting three rounds, and although I tried to hit harder, my rival, whom I congratulate for helping me work better and challenging me, defended himself very well,” he summarized about his latest combat.
Last November, the Olympic champion beat Kazakhstan’s Adilet Kurmetov in the knockout phase of the International Boxing Association Professional World Cup; however at the beginning of 2025, he will have a more complicated duel.
“This event is a training step for the rematch I will have against Bakhodur Usmonov on December 18, and for which I am preparing in the best way,” he explained.
Currently his Cienfuegos team is competing in the National Team Championship with aspirations of improving the fourth place from the previous edition, also held in Camagüey.
“Maybe we won’t be able to win the title, something very difficult; however I think we can be in “the podium,” he concluded.
