In a message on X, the president asserted that on December 20, “together with the heroic Cuban people, we will take to the streets in a combative march to demand the end of the blockade and of #Cuba’s permanence on the illegitimate list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.”
He recalled that on that day, “as we have so often accompanied Fidel (Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution), we will see each other in the streets,” the head of State invited.
The Cuban president announced the march, in front of the US Embassy in Havana, when speaking at the closing session of the 9th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, held last Thursday and Friday in this capital.
In this context, Díaz-Canel called on Cubans to gather and march in front of the US diplomatic building in order to demonstrate the socialist direction of the revolutionary process in Cuba that is suffering coercive measures by the Biden administration, and is alert to the rhetoric of maximum pressure from the next occupant of the Oval Office.
Washington continues to reinforce its harassment against Cuba, “but it will be impossible for us to surrender and kneel,” the first secretary of the Communist Party said at the closing session of the meeting.
