She explained that these crimes – among which are intentional homicide, femicide, injuries from firearms, kidnapping, extortion and robbery with violence – went from averaging 969.4 per day in that first year to registering 604.8 in the current year.
Speaking at the usual press conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum, the official referred to the comparison of the periods from January to November 2019 and 2024, from which a 13.1 percent decrease in intentional homicide and 14.2 percent in femicide is evident.
The authorities also identified an 18 percent drop in gunshot injuries, 69.8 in the case of extortionate kidnapping and 40.1 in all robberies with violence, while extortion increased 15.6.
Regarding intentional homicides, Figueroa pointed out a total of 2,461 last November, which is equivalent to an average of 82 victims per day, and detailed that this year the month with the highest incidence was June, with 89.3, and the lowest was March, with 77.9.
Meanwhile, based on preliminary figures from state prosecutors, during the first 16 days of December there is an average of 68.1, said the official, reiterating that between 2018 and 2024 the authorities register a reduction of 18.1 percent in the incidence of this crime.
Regarding the behavior by federal entity, she detailed that so far this year seven states concentrate 49.6 percent of the homicides: Guanajuato (10.4 percent), Baja California (7.9), State of Mexico (7.6), Chihuahua (6.7), Jalisco (6.0), Guerrero (5.8) and Nuevo León (5.2).
