The solemn act was presided over by the sectoral vice-president for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, and the first vice-president of the National Assembly (Parliament), Pedro Infante.
Also in attendance were the Head of the Government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández; the Mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez; the Minister for Culture, Ernesto Villegas; the head of the Penitentiary Service, Julio García, and the Military High Command.
“We commemorate 194 years to the day when our Liberator Giant Simón Bolívar departed to eternal life to leave us his doctrine, thought and example of ideas and action,” President Nicolás Maduro expressed in Telegram.
The man of difficulties who never tired of fighting for the freedom of an entire continent, he affirmed.
“Bolívar ours, Bolívar of always, Bolívar as a challenge, Bolívar as a commitment, Bolívar as a moral!”, Maduro pointed out.
He remarked that the best way to honor him is from political ethics, with virtuosity, bravery, detachment and anti-imperialist fidelity.
“We invoke his name, spirit and sword of Independence and Liberty.
