In a statement, the Egyptian presidency specified that the situation in that Levantine country was one of the topics addressed in this capital during a closed-door meeting between both dignitaries.

Abdullah and El-Sisi emphasized the importance of supporting the Syrian State and preserving its unity and territorial integrity, after the overthrow of President Bashar al-Assad.

According to the text, they also insisted on the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

In this regard, they reiterated their absolute rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their lands.

The Egyptian ruler and the Jordanian monarch affirmed that the creation of a Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, “is the only guarantee for achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.”

They also discussed the situation in Lebanon, following Israeli attacks against the Hezbollah movement.

The statement noted that both heads of state welcomed the end of fighting there and defended the need to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 on the issue.

They stressed their commitment to security, sovereignty and stability in Lebanon and condemned any aggression against the country.
