They must decide whether they want to return home, and those who wish to remain in the northern nation must initiate legal petitions to avoid immediate deportation, the director of the law firm Velloza and Associates said.
“I advise them to have a pending application so that if they are ever approached by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, they have the protection that something is pending in immigration court or US Citizenship and Immigration Services,” Velloza advised.
If they don’t, she stressed, they’ll most likely be on the next outbound flight.
Velloza’s remarks come after U.S. President-elect Donald Trumped to begin mass deportation of illegal immigrants as soon he takes office next month.
