Considered an essential personality of stage design in Cuba, he held the National Theater Award (2007), the National Design Award (2013) and the National Dance Award (2022), in addition to the Alejo Carpentier Order.
Arrocha had more than half a century of work dedicated to the visual arts, focused on the design of shows for dramatic works, cinema, cabaret and dance that earned him the qualification of essential for Cuban culture.
His mark was left on more than 80 works for some 70 choreographers of modern or contemporary dance, among which the Father and founder of that specialty on the island, the choreographer Ramiro Guerra, stands out. Alongside him, Eduardo Arrocha left his name engraved in creations for the Conjunto Nacional de Danza Moderna, of which he had the pleasure of being a part, serving as chief designer and technical director.
During his training he received courses at the National Opera Theatre in Prague (1966) and the Opera and Ballet of Bratislava (1971), which consolidated his career in the performing arts of Cuba. Crónica novia, Octeto amoroso, Fruta extraña, Suite campesina, Impromptu negro and Entreacto barroco are some of the pieces that featured his ingenuity, also put at the service of the National Ballet of Cuba in the designs for Giselle and La nueva Odisea and Amazonia.
