The Salvadoran newspaper Diario Hoy and Canal 21 cast their votes in favor of the South American players, who now have 10 ballots and are moving away from the Cuban Baseball squad5 (7), world champion for the second consecutive time this year.
Diario Hoy gave its vote as Best Male Athlete to Salvadorian tennis player Marcelo Arévalo, winner of Roland Garros in doubles and number one in the world ranking in that specialty, and in the female category to Ivonne Nóchez, also from El Salvador, who was the gold medalist at the World Skate Games 2024.
Meanwhile, Channel 21 voted for Cuban Greco-Roman wrestler and five-time Olympic champion Mijaín López, who leads the survey with 20 votes among male athletes, and for the medalist at the summer Olympics in the French capital, Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade, who has four votes.
It is worth remembering that deadline to vote will be December 23, and a day later, in a press conference, the results will be announced.
The media, in all its variants – radio, television, written press, agencies, digital portals – will be able to send their selections to the email deportes@prensa-latina.cu, from where the general vote will be compiled.
All media outlets participating in the Prensa Latina Sports Survey will vote on equal terms and will be able to choose any athlete from Latin America and the Caribbean.
