At a meeting on the occasion of its 5th National Congress, the party members issued the declaration, in which they demanded “the unconditional lifting of the cruel and inhumane” blockade, “intensified in an unprecedented manner in recent years, which affects broad sectors of the people.”
They also demanded Cuba’s immediate exclusion “from the unilateral and despicable list” of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, and assured that Cuba is an example of solidarity, friendship and cooperation.
Cuba “has given generous support to various nations of the world in emergency situations due to natural disasters and the (Covid-19) pandemic,” they stressed.
Participants in the meeting also repudiated “the subversive campaigns, backed by the Governmentof the United States, to manipulate the complex economic situation that Cuba is going through, due to the financial persecution imposed” by that same administration.
“They continue to seek perversely to place a coup agenda to overthrow the Revolutionary Government of Cuba,” the resolution stated.
The party members supported the Cuban people’s demand regarding the return of the territory illegally occupied by the United States Naval Base in Guantanamo.
They reiterated unrestricted support for the Communist Party of Cuba, the government and the people of that nation “in their firm conviction of building socialism, despite the aggressive and hostile policy of imperialism.”
“Defending Cuba is defending humanity and with it the possibility of building a world different from the barbarism, war and hunger promoted by capitalism and imperialism,” they said.
In a message published on X on Tuesday, Cuban Ambassador to Mexico Marcos Rodríguez expressed gratitude for the Resolution of Solidarity with the Cuban Revolution adopted by the Communist Party at its 5th National Congress.
As a consequence of the United States blockade, Cuba has lost 5,056.8 billion dollars from March 1, 2023, to February 29, 2024, according to official figures.
