A press released from the Foreign Ministry stressed that this historic document represents a global commitment to its protection and promotion.
The Bolivarian Republic, a zealous guardian of the principles of Liberator Simón Bolívar, which inspired the Universal Declaration, called on the international community to respect the principles contained in this valuable document.
She also urged to avoid the ‘instrumentalization of the noble cause of human rights for political purposes, an action that has inflicted great damage to humanity’.
The Venezuelan Government and people reiterated their firm commitment ‘to the promotion, protection and enjoyment of all human rights’.
They described this Day as a new opportunity to ‘redouble efforts in this area in view of the imperative need to enforce the Universal Declaration, especially in the face of the atrocities being experienced in Palestine’.
In the note, Venezuela reiterated that its commitment to human rights is as inalienable as stipulated in its Constitution.
In this regard, it reported that cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights was reestablished under the terms of independence, sovereignty and non-intervention in internal affairs, all principles established in the United Nations Charter.
