‘Congratulations to President-elect John Mahama @JDMahama of Ghana on his election.
We wish him every success in his journey as a leader and in his future endeavors,’ Ahmed wrote on his X social network account.
The National Democratic Congress party candidate won the presidential election, a position that was contested by 11 other candidates, including his main rival from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), current vice president Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mahama, who already ruled Ghana between 2012 and 2017, was the first president born after the African country’s independence from the United Kingdom (1957).
After his triumph, he will again take over as head of state for a new four-year term.
