British Culture Week ends in Cuba (+Photos)

Havana, Oct 9 (Prensa Latina) The XII Week of British Culture in Cuba, dedicated to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion, concluded with the show “Muévete” at the National Theatre of this capital.

A mix of rock and roll and timba set the pace of last night’s closing show, inspired by the music of leading bands and artists, such as Queen, Eurythmics, Elton Jhon, San Smith, Dua Lipa, and Los Van Van.

The general and musical direction of the show was in charge of Andrés Levin, with Ernán López-Nussa, Osdalgia, Vannia Borges, and Ernesto Blanco, among others, as some of the invited musicians; and with choreography by maestro Santiago Alfonso, Claudia Molinet, Norge Cedeño, César and Lázaro Saavedra.

The show also included the projection of reflections of different personalities on the big screen, and the call for equality sent by the outstanding British actors Ian Mackellen and Jorge Perugorría, with the film Fresa y Chocolate as a reference from the cinema to make the LGBTIQ community visible.

In this sense, the British ambassador to Cuba, Sir George Hollingbery, highlighted the reflection of these themes in literature and referred to the work of Oscar Wilde, especially the book “Portrait of Dorian Grey”, and the outstanding novel of Virginia Woolf, “Orlando”.
