According to the report from the 38th Ordinary and Commemorative Assembly of the 60th anniversary of the regional legislature, González Patricio, who served as head of the organization, was characterized by developing a broad program to strengthen interparliamentary relations, strategic alliances of cooperation with Europe, Asia and Africa, in addition to projecting the expansion of membership.
González Patricio, indistinctly, had served as alternate president and secretary of commissions, among other responsibilities.
The new board of directors will also include Paraguayan lawmaker Carlos Núñez, as alternate president, and Uruguayan parliamentarian Juan Martín Rodríguez, as general secretary.
Other members of the top leadership of Parlatino are Nancy Sánchez (Mexico), secretary of committees; Didiano Pinilla (Panama), alternate secretary of committees; Congresswoman María del Carmen Alva (Peru), in charge of inter-institutional relations; and lawmaker Alfredo Pacheco (Dominican Republic), responsible for inter-parliamentary ties.
The former president of the organization and former head of the National Assembly (unicameral parliament) of Panama, Elías Castillo G., serves as executive secretary.
