Chuñil, who has dedicated her life to protecting the native forest in the town of Máfil, in Los Ríos region, was last seen on November 8, when she left her home to feed the animals.
Her relatives arrived last week at the National Congress and La Moneda Palace, to ask for help and demand an exhaustive investigation into the case, after denouncing that Chuñil was the target of threats for her environmental advocacy and her defense of community rights.
Neighbors suspect third parties are involved in her disappearance, after the tracks of a car were detected near an untrodden spot.
Around 60 community members, together with the family, firefighters, police and civil groups are participating in the search efforts, but so far her whereabouts remain unknown.
Meanwhile, the campaign ‘Where is Julia Chuñil?’ has gone viral on social networks.
