According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of the Colombian country, as well as the Consulate in Guayaquil, are in permanent contact with the Ecuadorian authorities, seeking to clarify the facts and to provide the appropriate consular attention to the families of the victims.
The Foreign Ministry also expressed its willingness to cooperate, as soon as possible, to achieve progress in the respective investigations, so that those responsible for the atrocity are identified and captured in a timely manner.
According to Ecuadorian media, nine Colombians were murdered in the municipality of El Guabo, in the southwest of the Ecuadorian province of El Oro, by unknown men who arrived at a house and opened fire on its occupants.
The bodies of the victims were found by the authorities inside the house and in the street, apparently in an attempt to flee.
