Since September 23, the energy crisis in Ecuador, aggravated by drought and lack of timely investments in the sector, has caused daily blackouts of between five and 14 hours in several provinces.
The electricity generation deficit, estimated at 1,080 mW, forced Ecuador to import electricity from Colombia and rent a generating barge from a Turkish company to cover the demand.
President Daniel Noboa promised that the blackouts would end in December, however, the month began with cuts of between five and seven hours nation wide.
