Kobajidze, during a government meeting held on Monday in Tbilisi, said that violent demonstrations in Georgia are taking place in a coordinated manner and according to previously drawn up plans, including with the participation of foreign funding.
“That is why there were protests against the law “On the transparency of foreign influence.” They did not want transparency, because foreign finances are directed to destabilizing processes in Georgia,” the minister added.
Kobajidze also pointed out that a “Maidan” will never take place in the nation, and that financing revolutionary protests in Georgia is “an incorrect attitude towards our sovereign, independent and proud country.”
There have been three attempts to start a colour revolution with foreign money over the past four years, the head of the Georgian government said, expressing his gratitude to Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and all employees of law enforcement and the State Security Service.
According to Kobajidze, “a special responsibility falls on opposition politicians,” calling them “adventurers behind coordinated violence.” The opposition, fulfilling the tasks of foreign masters, wants to overthrow the constitutional order, but they will be held accountable for it, he said.
Earlier it was reported that more than 100 law enforcement officers were injured during protests near the parliament building in Tbilisi. Police ordered children to be removed from a demonstration near the parliament building.
It was recently reported that special forces used a water cannon against the most violent protesters, who were throwing stones and Molotov cocktails at law enforcement officers.
