This interventionist action shows that the US government is going through a serious phase of denial, confronted with the unquestionable democratic and popular victory of President Nicolás Maduro on July 28, the integration bloc indicated in a statement.

It further denounced that the multidimensional aggression against the Venezuelan people has translated into over 950 unilateral coercive extortion-like measures since 2017, including those announced the day before.

However, it noted, “Venezuelans have resisted every attack and demonstrated their firm decision to defend the sovereignty and independence of the nation.”

The Alliance pointed out that in 2019 the US government of the time followed an erratic, interventionist path outside of International Law, which led to a resounding defeat of geopolitical scope.

It stressed that the permanent imperialist aggressions against Venezuela have always been and will be defeated by the people of Simón Bolívar, as they seek to strengthen their independence, dignity and self-determination.

ALBA-TCP denounces this new wave of alleged arbitrary sanctions announced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States.

The group also demanded respect for the sovereignty of the free peoples of our America and the Caribbean and reaffirmed all its solidarity with the people and the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela.

Among the Venezuelan officials subject to sanctions are the ministers Ricardo Menéndez (Planning); Freddy Ñáñez (Communication and Information); Julio José García (Penitentiary Affairs); and Aníbal Eduardo Coronado (Office of the President).

In addition to América Pérez, second vice speaker at Parliament; William Castillo, vice minister of Anti-Blockade Policies; and Daniella Cabello, president of Marca País Venezuela.

The list also included 10 members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and four officers linked to intelligence agencies and the Militia.
