Chilean public sector on strike over labor improvements

Santiago de Chile, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) Chile's public sector workers are staging a national strike to demand from the government job stability, living wages and better conditions to perform their tasks.

The protest has the support of the National Association of Fiscal Employees (ANEF) and the Central Unitaria de los Trabajadores (CUT) and are scheduled mobilizations in about 15 cities of the country, including the capital.

A post of the CUT on its X account points out that the work stoppage is also intended to support the sector’s petition and the real adjustment of wages, whose negotiations will begin on Friday.

Immediate 40-hour working week, without astonishing as it happens today, mental health standards, gender equality and an adjustment of wages above the annual inflation index, are some of the demands.

A common point in the dissatisfaction of public employees is the change made by the current director of the Comptroller General of the Republic, Dorothy Pérez, to determine the concept of “legitimate trust.”
