Despite the distance, we are very satisfied because dozens of representatives nationwide will participate, Pedro Bronzic, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Zone, told Prensa Latina.
We will be first debating on Friday and Saturday the consequences of the US blockade that has affected that sister Caribbean nation for more than six decades, the activist stated.
Bronzic added that the effects of the natural disasters that have recently struck that country, and the ongoing issues of communication and solidarity campaigns with the Cuban people and the Cuban Revolution, will be also addressed.
He also stated that the organizers have sent invitations to political parties, trade union organizations and, of course, those graduates at Cuba’s Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) and their families.
Valdivia was the first city in Chile to receive a Cuban medical brigade to assist the population after the 1960 devastating earthquake, which measured 9.5 magnitude on the Richter scale and is considered the most powerful event ever recorded in history.
