During a press conference, the Minister of Economy and Public Finance, Marcelo Montenegro, said that “in terms of potential, we are estimating more than 10 million dollars per month, so we would have to think that Argentina will send a significant nomination, but this will be progressive.”
A day earlier, Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales de Bolivia (YPFB), TotalEnergies, from Argentina, and Grupo Matrix Energía, from Brazil, signed the first international operating contract to facilitate the export of Argentine natural gas to the Brazilian market through Bolivian transportation infrastructure.
The contract was signed during the International Forum on Hydrocarbons, Fertilizers, Renewable and Alternative Energies, which took place in the city of Santa Cruz, and is the result of a coordinated effort in the context of regional energy integration between Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil.
Bolivian state authorities issued Supreme Decree 5206 and all the complementary regulations to establish in Bolivian territory the management of gas in transit through the country’s Integrated Transport System.
This service will be provided by YPFB as the international aggregator and transporter of this operation, which will consolidate the regional gas market (Argentina-Bolivia-Brazil), the largest reserve of the fuel, the largest transport system of this fuel, and the largest consumer of energy, respectively.
YPFB and its transportation companies are authorized to operate and manage the flow of natural gas in the region through a pipeline and compression system of around a thousand kilometers, connecting large hydrocarbon production centers in Argentina with the most important consumption centers in Brazil.
