Dominican Republic and OECD work on national anti-corruption strategy

Santo Domingo, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Republic and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) announced an alliance to develop the National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy, official sources reported today.

The collaboration between OECD and this Caribbean nation seeks to strengthen State institutions to guarantee transparency and improve governance.

During the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday night, headed by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, it was revealed that work is being done on developing the aforementioned strategy based on international best practices.

The information was released by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, at the end of the meeting, in which the Government Plan for 2028 and the monitoring and follow-up mechanism for the proposed goals were announced.

The Dominican Republic, through the General Directorate of Ethics and Government Integrity (Digeig) and the OECD signed an agreement last August to evaluate the state of integrity policies in the country and to achieve the articulation of the National System of Public Integrity.

The website of the Presidency indicated at that time that the signing of the document represented a significant advance towards the achievement of best practices in matters of decency and anti-corruption in the Caribbean nation.
