The main objective of this project, backed by the Italian Agency of Cooperation for Development (AICS), is to enhance the historical heritage of the municipalities of Central Havana, Old Havana, East Havana, and Matanzas, the AICS said in a press release.
It also promotes the creation of new cultural enterprises and the strengthening of cultural and creative industries in the region.
The Creative Zones program also seeks to improve the economic sustainability of these territories, aligning its objectives with local development strategies and promoting dynamic and collaborative creative ecosystems between the public and private sectors.
This project aims to benefit more than 3,000 young people, women entrepreneurs, cultural promoters, and project managers, focusing particularly on inclusion, sustainability, and strengthening local capacities.
It also fosters international collaboration through the participation of various Cuban and Italian organizations and entities, including AICS, COSPE, ARCS, CISP, the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana (OHCH), which ensures an efficient and effective management of Cuba’s cultural heritage.
