The UNA researcher spoke to Prensa Latina during the inauguration of the Comandante Fidel Moringa Development Center and affirmed that with this project they pay permanent tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who was the driving force behind the study of this protein plant.
“It is a great honor, especially personally, since I studied at the Central University of Las Villas “Martha Abreu” and, later, I had the opportunity to exchange scientific knowledge with Dr. Concepción Campa, who is still in charge of the Moringa program in Cuba,” he said.
According to Reyes, they have been studying the benefits of Moringa for human and animal consumption for more than 20 years, elaborating on products derived from this miraculous tree due to its nutritional contributions.
“For us, besides being proud, it is a challenge to be able to live up to the idea that the commander had to do with the elaboration of the products, and how much they can help food security and sovereignty, not only for Nicaragua and Cuba but also for the countries of the region,” he said.
