“There is no need to talk in detail about the fact that the situation in the world remains extremely tense and is becoming more so every day thanks to the efforts of our Western colleagues,” Lavrov said at the meeting with the heads of the special and security services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Lavrov added that they also do not look down on various dirty geopolitical methods, from organizing large-scale information wars to directly unleashing colour revolutions, as they are now trying to do in Georgia. “In this way, Western states provoke internal conflicts and hotbeds of tension in other countries of the world, for example, they use a network of non-governmental organizations to destabilize the internal political situation in the states of the Global South and the Global East,” he said.
Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) published on November 16th the final results of the parliamentary elections held on October 26th . According to the document, the ruling Georgian Dream party won the elections, garnering 53.93 percent of the vote and receiving 89 seats in the 150-seat parliament.
Four opposition parties won representation in parliament, but declared that they do not recognize the results announced by the CEC and refuse to accept the seats, calling the voting results falsified and demanding an international investigation and new elections.
The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into opposition claims that the election results were falsified, but most opposition parties refuse to cooperate with the agency.
On August 26th, Russian intelligence warned that the United States was preparing a “color revolution” in Georgia because it did not agree with the current political situation in the country.
