In a statement, the head of government condemned the Zionist attack on an army checkpoint in the south of the country, which caused the death of at least one soldier and wounded 18 others. In the opinion of the head of the Lebanese Executive, such hostile action by Israel constitutes a direct bloody message of rejection of the ongoing efforts and contacts to reach a ceasefire.
According to the cabinet’s X account, Mikati stressed that the enemy’s aggression thwarts the way to reach an agreement to strengthen the presence of the Lebanese army in the south and implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
The head of the Council of Ministers pointed out that the direct Israeli incursion adds to the series of repeated attacks against the Lebanese army and civilians, in light of the silence of the international community.
Mikati also stated that Israel persists in the war and “just as it turned against the U.S.-French call for a ceasefire in September, here it is again writing in Lebanese blood a rejection of the solution that is being discussed at present”.
