At the ceremony, presided over by Ambassador Andrés González and Chiththadhamma Rathnamudali, president of the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates in Cuba, and other members of the board, flowers were laid in front of a bust of Fidel and the flags of both countries, the diplomatic mission in Havana reported.
According to the source, directors, and members of the Sri Lankan organization highlighted the validity of Fidel’s example, called him a beacon of inspiration for all, and conveyed beautiful messages of gratitude and admiration for his figure and legacy.
On the other hand, González underscored Fidel’s drive and perseverance to foster ties of cooperation with other countries and training foreign students through scholarships and courses in institutions in the Caribbean nation.
One example of this is the graduates of Sri Lanka, he said.
The diplomat also referred to the activities for the 66th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, 2025, which, he said, will be celebrated with joy, enthusiasm, and confidence in the future and always under the guidance of the ideas and example of its historic leader Fidel Castro.
The activity was carried out in the context of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Sri Lanka.
