In a message released on X, the president also expressed what he believes would happen if the president of the United States would choose to ignore the ruling.
“Netanyahu is genocidal. The world’s court of justice says so and its ruling must be followed. If Biden ignores this order, he would be simply leading the world into barbarism. Western Europe must regain its independence in international politics and act to comply with the court’s order,” Petro wrote.
The ICJ ruling extends to former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who is held responsible for organizing massive bombings by the Zionist air force against the Palestinian population in Gaza, resulting in more than 43,970 deaths and some 104,000 wounded.
According to the ICJ judges, there are sufficient elements to consider Netanyahu and Gallant as personally responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity, as well as for the famine currently gripping the aforementioned coastal enclave and the persecution of Palestinians.
The ICJ is made up of the 27 countries of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil, Australia, Canada, the territories of the Palestinian Authority, Jordan and the Palestinian Territories, among others.
