“The situation in Haiti is deteriorating to the point where we have to worry about what I call mass migration,” Bahamas Prime Minister Philip Davis said.
We have the dilemma of dealing with hundreds of people who enter by sea to the Bahamas or stopping this migratory phenomenon, which is now less intense because we strengthen the surveillance of our borders and partner with Cuba, the United States and Turks and Caicos Islands, to ensure the flow of Haitians.
If the security situation in Haiti continues to deteriorate, it would be impossible for us to deal with the millions of people trying to escape that reality, Philip said.
