Managua, Nov 19 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega announced the new route of the interoceanic canal construction project that his government is promoting today to improve the fluidity of global maritime transport.

President Ortega said that Nicaragua is ready for the project and extended the invitation to other nations who wish to join the initiative.

“Here is Nicaragua ready to contribute with that step that will give greater fluidity to maritime transport, and trade, so we invite you all, we will send you more information,” said the president.

The Sandinista leader stated that the idea of the canal has always been the reason for the US to maintain hostility towards this Central American nation.

He referred to the current situation of the Panama Canal, one of the main maritime routes used by shipping companies in the world, for which he expressed the importance of executing this alternative route through Nicaragua.

According to the President, the project starts at the port of Bluefields in the autonomous region of the southern Caribbean coast, crosses several segments through the country, and ends at Corinto port, on the Pacific.
