DPRK and Russia to strengthen Strategic Partnership Treaty

Pyongyang, Nov 18 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and Russia will give new content to the Strategic Partnership Treaty signed last June in Pyongyang by the top leaders of the two countries, Kim Jong Un and Vladimir Putin.

The Russian delegation to the 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation in Trade, Economy, Science and Technology arrived here on Sunday, the state-run KCNA news agency reported today.

The group is headed by Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov, co-chairman of the body on the Russian side.

He was met at Pyongyang International Airport by his counterpart at the Commission and Minister of Foreign Economic Relations Yun Jong Ho and Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexandr Matsegora.

The Strategic Partnership Treaty between the two nations lays the legal basis for the expansion of cooperation in trade, economy, investment and science and technology, including the fields of space and peaceful nuclear energy.

It also provides that if one of the parties is attacked by one or more countries and is in a state of war, the other party will immediately provide military assistance or other aid by all available means.
