The Caribbean organization stated that time continues to pass, and the deadlines are running out to achieve important objectives that would lead to the holding of free and fair general elections, and the establishment of a democratically elected government.
The cohesion and coherence of the main actors in the transition process, as well as accountability, will be essential ingredients for the final success, stressed the Caricom statement released on its digital page.
“Caricom continues to believe that democracy can only thrive with commitment to and respect for the rule of law, as well as a demonstrable commitment to the security and well-being of its citizens, and a prompt restoration of constitutional order and democratic institutions,” the statement concludes.
