A note previously released by the Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Ministry (MINCIT) stated that representatives of the sector’s ministerial portfolios, high authorities from 35 countries, and UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili are attending the meeting.
Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Minister Luis Carlos Reyes stated that on this occasion, Colombia, as a host nation, is addressing issues such as the opportunities the leisure industry offers in community areas, and other initiatives of environmental responsible practices.
“It is the opportunity for Colombia to continue positioning itself as a leading destination due to its public policies focused on sustainable practices,” the minister noted.
Reyes added that this time, participants also deal with the mechanisms that are being implemented so that the benefits generated by the sector reach the communities directly and who have been long underestimated in their country and are now part of the decision-making process.
