According to the Cuban News Agency (ACN), runners from 46 countries have confirmed their attendance at Cuba’s major running competition, including representatives from Vietnam, the United States and Mexico, among others.
Some 2,131 runners, including 429 foreigners, have registered for the event, which will maintain the process of incorporating new athletes until November 16, so the number of participants in the event must still grow. Marabana Director Carlos Gattorno informed that the distances will be five kilometers (km), 10.21 km, and the main event, the 42-km marathon.
One of the main attractions in this edition will be the participation of the multiple world and Guinness record holder in football dribling, Erick Hernández, who will try to set a record in the officially approved 10-km circuit, Gatorno added.
ACN pointed out that Marabana 2024 will stand out due to the presence of more than 500 women, as well as nearly 100 runners over 65 years of age.
