Mpox mortality decreases in DRC

Kinshasa, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) Mortality due to monkeypox (Mpox) has decreased in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), reaching 0.36 percent on November 4-9, Health Minister Roger Kamba informed.

Kamba noted that three people died out of 834 suspects and 81 confirmed Mpox cases during the period, resulting in a mortality rate of 0.36 percent, much lower than the previous week’s 1.6 percent.

In his update on the Mpox epidemic status in the country, the minister stated that since the epidemic broke out, 42,912 suspected cases have been reported, 9,454 of which have been confirmed and 1,132 deaths have been recorded.

He specified that Kinshasa reported 123 active cases, 56 of which are suspected cases and 67 have already been confirmed as Mpox patients.
