“Our solidarity, our love and respect for sister Cuba,” the lawmaker at the National Assembly (Parliament) told a press conference on Monday. Cabello commented that Cuba was hit by “two hurricanes in a row, and a strong earthquake on Sunday.”
The party leader assured, however, that the Cuban people are accustomed to fighting and winning and in the worst conditions “they have risen and know that they can count on our support,” he added.
On Monday, local media in their digital formats covered the arrival at the port of Santiago de Cuba (west) of more than 300 tons of humanitarian aid sent by the Bolivarian Government to alleviate the damage caused by Hurricanes Oscar and Rafael.
Both events affected Cuba with a difference of just 17 days, the former in the east with a category one on the Saffir-Simpson scale, and the latter with a category three in the west, causing damage to homes, state infrastructure, the power system, agriculture, and other vital sectors.
The Venezuelan News Agency reported that the Bolivarian National Navy ship docked at the Cuban port on Sunday and was welcomed by Cuban authorities Venezuelan Ambassador in Havana Orlando Maneiro.
The diplomat stressed that “brothers see each other, express themselves, reach out and help each other,” and noted that Cuba has always been the best example of solidarity in the world and today Venezuela supports it.
The 34-container solidarity shipment left Puerto Cabello, in the state of Carabobo (north) with a load of 2,500 stoves, 10,000 single and double mattresses, 10,000 galvanized zinc sheets, personal hygiene products and other supplies.
