In his remarks, Mikati called for supporting the Lebanese state and its institutions, in light of the unprecedented and fateful historical crisis it faces due to Tel Aviv’s hostility, in addition to a series of accumulated challenges and crises.
The top government figure reiterated the country’s commitment to International Resolution 1701 in all its provisions as the way to achieve peace and security.
The cabinet leader considered the Palestinian cause as the most important regional challenge and renewed the call for a ceasefire in Gaza and the achievement of a lasting peace.
Heads of state, regional leaders and representatives of Arab and Islamic governments attended the extraordinary meeting in Saudi Arabia with the aim of addressing Israel’s escalating violence against the territories of Gaza and Lebanon.
The meeting’s priorities will be to unify positions and put pressure on the international community to take decisive action to stop the Israeli aggression, as well as to protect civilians and support the Palestinian and Lebanese people.
