Cuba participates in UN Climate Change Conference COP29

Baku, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) A Cuban delegation is participating in the 29th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), which opened in Baku on Monday, Cuban Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Carlos Valdes, informed.

The Caribbean nation diplomat told Prensa Latina this Monday that the Cuban delegation is formed by authorities and experts of the Ministries of Science, Technology, and Environment (CITMA) and Foreign Affairs (MINREX).

Valdes added that COP29, being held at the Baku Olympic Stadium from November 11 to 22, is the largest event ever organized by Azerbaijan and the first of its kind in the region.

The highest-level event within COP29 is the World Leaders Climate Action Summit (WLCAS) on November 12-13.

The Cuban diplomat noted that the Government of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) signed a “Host Country Agreement” and other important documents during the opening of COP29.
