China’s import expo spurs millionaire agreements

Shanghai, China, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) concludes with more than $80 billion in tentative agreements for purchases of goods and services for one year.

According to specialist sources, the figure represented a 2% increase on the 2023 figure.

In this edition the event set new records with 297 companies included in the list of the top 500 in the world and industry leaders, as well as more than 170 products and pioneering technologies from some 120 exhibitors.

The CIIE, considered a platform to showcase innovation and promote international cooperation, brought together major pharmaceutical and medical device companies from November 5, including Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Siemens Healthineers, Edwards Lifesciences and BD Medical.

Many of those firms introduced products that debuted in China or globally, aiming to accelerate their access to China’s market.

The Foreign Ministry recently stressed the importance of the CIIE for the opening up of the country to the outside world.

This edition offered support to 37 less developed nations to exhibit at the fair, in addition to expanding the area of African products in the food and agricultural goods pavilion.

The 7th China International Import Expo hosted for the first time a conference focused on deepening comprehensive reform and promoting openness, official sources said.

The central event included the Investment Forum “Invest in China” and two sessions of the Hongqiao Forum, which addressed issues of institutional opening and productive development.
