Angolan President completes Interior Ministry reshuffle

Luanda, Nov 8 (Prensa Latina) Angolan President, João Lourenço, completed reshuffling the Interior Ministry today, by appointing two new ministers for that portfolio.

On October 31, the president dismissed the then head of that ministry, Eugénio César Laborinho, as well as the Secretaries of State for the Interior, José Paulino Cunha da Silva, and for Technical Guarantee, Carlos Armando Albino.

On the same date, he appointed Manuel Homem, who was serving as governor of the province of Luanda, to occupy the post of minister, but the other posts remained vacant.

On Friday, the Presidency issued a decree in which the President, in accordance with the Constitution and after consultation with the National Security Council, decided to move Commissioner General Arnaldo Manuel Carlos, who was the Commander General of the National Police, to assume the functions of Secretary of State for the Interior of the Ministry of the Interior.

Meanwhile, the Vice Governor of the Province of Luanda for Technical Services and Infrastructure, Cristino Mário Ndeitunga, was appointed as Secretary of State for Technical Guarantee of the same ministry.

Chief Commissioner Francisco Monteiro Ribas da Silva, who served as Provincial Delegate of the Ministry of the Interior and Provincial Commander of Luanda of the Angolan National Police, was promoted to Police Commissioner General and promoted to Commander General of the National Police.

These changes complete the overhaul initiated in the Ministry of the Interior since October 25, when the Director General of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and the Director General of the Migration and Foreign Affairs Service (SME) were dismissed.
