Russian Deputy Prime Minister arrives in Venezuela on a working visit

Caracas, Nov 7 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, today received Russia's Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Chernyshenko, who will carry out a working agenda in Caracas to strengthen bilateral relations.

Among the purposes of the visit of the high-ranking Russian official is to preside over the 18th Meeting of the High Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN), which met here the day before with the participation of authorities and public and private businessmen from both nations.

This meeting will aim to review the 343 instruments agreed upon in 13 sub-commissions, in various sectors under the principle of mutual benefit, which cover the financial, energy, industry, trade and customs, transport and tourism; agriculture, fisheries and food; and science and technology, education.

It also includes science and technology, education, health, health, culture, sport and youth; military-technical; labour, social protection and poverty reduction; information, communications and digital development; mining and subsoil use.

Last year at the CIAN meeting in Moscow, the parties signed 16 instruments of exchange and cooperation in areas linked to health, energy, science and technology, finance, maritime transport and digital development.

Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez stressed the day before that Venezuela is a safe space for Russian investment in the South American nation, just as Moscow is for the Bolivarian Republic.

The High Level Intergovernmental Commission between Caracas and Moscow was established in 2004, with the aim of deepening and extending strategic ties between the two nations.
