The forum is also organized by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, and the National Meat Institute of Uruguay.
The objective of the meeting is to promote innovative, resilient and sustainable production systems which reduce environmental impact and increase access to food in the livestock industries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event will feature officials from the governments of Argentina, Chile, Peru, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil, Guyana and Ecuador.
Delegations, including producers, scientists, development agencies, donors, financial agencies, decision-makers, civil society representatives, and the private sector will also participate.
The conference, opening today and until tomorrow, will be attended by President Luis Lacalle Pou and Deputy Regional Director and FAO General Representative, Mario Lubetkin.
