Russia emphasizes economic and commercial ties with Cuba at FIHAV

Havana, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) The Russian ambassador to Cuba, Viktor Koronelli, said today that his country’s sizable attendance at the 40th International Fair of Havana (Fihav 2024) demonstrates the high level of bilateral economic and commercial relations.

Such an influx of Russian businesspeople to Havana obeys to the agreements reached in recent years, including the development plan of the key lines of Russian-Cuban collaboration until 2030, Koronelli said during the inauguration of the Russian pavilion at Fihav, which was attended by the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Russian investors, he continued, are increasingly interested in the development of mutually beneficial joint projects, also seeking to meet Cuban priorities of today.

Such projects cover a wide range of topics, from energy and industry to tourism and digitalization, Koronelli said at Fihav, hosted until November 9 at the Expocuba exhibition center.

He stressed that the presence of the Nozhny Novgorod delegation at Fihav is a preview of the events to come soon, given the fact that Novgorod is one of the most important economic and industrial hubs in Russia, especially in machinery, methodology and information technology.

Koronelli announced that on November 8, the Vice President of the Government of Russia, Dmitry Chernychenko, will attend Fihav on the occasion of a visit to Havana to participate in the meeting of the co-presidents of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission for Economic-Commercial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

He also praised Cuban Vice Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas for his contribution to get this significant commission going. According to Koronelli, Russian businessmen at FIHAV will make a significant contribution to the historically friendly relations between the two sisterly nations, thus further consolidating trade, economic and investment ties.
