The Minister of Security, Gustavo Sánchez, said on social media that these numbers are the lowest recorded in this nation in the last 10 years, based on the data from the Police Statistical System Online (Sepol) and confirmed by the Observatory of Violence.
According to the incumbent, such results are possible thanks to the support of the Government of President Xiomara Castro, which implemented effective security initiatives, such as the partial state of emergency and the Solution Against Crime plan.
The statistics presented show from 2022 to date a decrease of 15,2 points in the annual rate per 100,000 inhabitants, and by this year the authorities hope to finish with a reduction of eight.
A report by Channel 8 Television highlighted the work done to address women’s violent deaths.
In this regard, the source, citing the Honduran Security Secretariat, highlighted the various crime prevention actions that affect that group, and mentioned the operation of the 114, Women Living Without Fear line.
The Honduran authorities hope to maintain these results and strengthen security in the country by dismantling criminal structures, fighting drug trafficking and improving citizen coexistence to prevent violence.
