The two governments stressed their firm determination to fully implement the provisions of their strategic alliance, which has brought the traditionally friendly Russian-North Korean relations to a new qualitative level, the statement released to the press stressed.
Additionally, both sides agreed to continue dialogue, consultations, and exchange of views through diplomatic entities at several levels, thus contributing to developing and expanding bilateral ties.
Regarding developments on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, Russia and the DPRK agreed that tensions in such territories result from “the provocative actions by the United States and its satellites.”
In this regard, Moscow reiterated its support to Pyongyang for the latter’s steps taken to “stop the United States’ aggressive policy” and “ensure security and stability” in the region.
The note was issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry following the meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his North Korean counterpart, Choe Son Hui, held in Moscow on Friday.
