The most translated writer from Spanish is the Colombian Nobel Prize laureate Gabriel García Márquez, ranked 49th in the world, on a list led by Englishwoman Agatha Christie.
According to the yearbook, the community of Spanish speakers with native command of the language is close to 500 million (498,497,757), of which about 100 million are Spanish speakers outside Hispanic countries.
There is also an increase in the number of Spanish students, with 24 million, mainly concentrated in the United States, the European Union (EU) and Brazil.
The text entitled ‘Spanish in the World 2024’, highlights the language of Cervantes for its growing influence on cinema, music and video games.
